Evening Paddle on Kingston Creek for Rivers to Oceans Day - June 14th, 6 PM
Bring your canoe or kayak and join us on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022, 6:00 pm at the Kingston Creek boat launch (on Route 845 between Kingston and the Old Reach Road) for an evening paddle. We will travel the routes believed to have been taken by the Indigenous people of the Kingston Peninsula to celebrate Rivers to Oceans Day. We will paddle across Kingston Creek to Simpson’s Point, then continue to Gorham’s Creek. The tour also offers a driving option for those who would prefer to drive, come at 6:30. Water Navigation Safety Rules must be followed by all paddlers. The paddle will take from 1 to 1.5 hours. In case of high winds or inclement weather, the tour will be by car. Points of interest will include: an historical Indigenous campsite, the site of the former wharf and lighthouse at Shamper’s Bluff, and the Calamus (Sweet Grass) Pond on Gorham’s Bluff. A social at Quigley’s will follow (114 Gorham’s Bluff Road).
St. John / Wolastoq River Day - June 24th/FREE (but donations gratefully accepted) 11:30 AM - 3 PM
Gather at the Saint James Church at 11:30, 3365 NB-845, Long Reach, NB E5S 1W7, for music and stories honouring the St. John/Wolastoq River. The church bell will be rung at noon. Masks are required inside the church. After, join us at the Cedars Lighthouse for a bring-your-own picnic. An evening bonfire will take place at 7:30 pm at Holderville Cemetery Beach.
Historic Places Days- July 9th launch
Get and give by entering the #historicplacesdays contest for a chance to win $1000 for yourself and an additional $1000 for a historic site! From July 3rd to July 31st, join the Historic Places Day Organization and us in celebrating and sharing historic community sites by taking a selfie with your favourite historic site(s) and posting it on social media with #historicplacesdays. Be sure to tag the historic place, tag and follow @nationalstrustca, and post one selfie per day, to be entered into a random draw to win $1000 for yourself and $1000 for the historic site.
1810 Carter House and the John Fisher Memorial Museum are open for the season July 5th to September 3rd
From July 5th to September 3rd, join Kingston Peninsula Heritage for tea and treats at 1810 Carter House. Food service is from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM; Book your table today by calling (506) 832 2902 or by messaging us through our Facebook. After tea, go over to the John Fisher Memorial Museum to see our new exhibit Cemetery Tales. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM during July and August.
Platinum Jubilee Garden Party - July 17, 2022 - 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Join us at the 1810 Carter House Garden from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, 874 Route 845, Kingston, NB, to celebarte the 70 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada! Light refreshments will be served and live music will be perfomed by the New Kingston Trio. Please arrive by 2:15 for the 2:30 arrival of Her Honour, the Lieutenant Governor, Brenda Murphy. There will be a service of thanksgiving at Trinity Anglican Church to honour the Queen's 70 year reign at 1:00 PM. The dress for the occasion is smart casual, with flat shoes recommended. Driving Tour- All Summer!
Enjoy winding country roads, stunning river views, and our community's finest historical architecture on the Kingston Peninsula Built Heritage Driving Tour! This circuit, including 23 of our best-preserved historical landmarks and buildings, makes for an amazing self-guided and socially distanced activity for the summer. the driving tour map is currently available on our website here and printed copies of the map, which are currently available at the JFM Museum.

Charlotte's High Tea - August 15th
Join Kingston Peninsula Heritage on Monday, August 15th for a night of fun and memory as we celebrate
the legacy of a longtime Peninsula Heritage member Charlotte Fullerton. Sample different types of tea, perfectly paired with an array of desserts & delicacies. Tickets are $20. Seating is limited. There will be indoor and outdoor seating available. There are three time slots available; 2-3:30 PM, 4-5:30 PM, and 6-7:30 PM.
