Crawford House

Crawford House - Holderville

History and Style:

This house once sat closer to the river than it does today, but like many houses in the 19th Century, it was moved to a more convenient location as transportation switched from the rivers to highways. It was built by a Holder in the 1840s and was originally a simple one and a half story cottage. After it was moved to its present location, a dormer was added to the façade and a kitchen and pantry were added to its south end. The Crawford family later ran the Holderville post office from a small room off the kitchen.
