History and Style:

Waltons Lake school house was in District No.14 in the parish of Kingston. Williams Road crosses the Kingston Peninsula from Long Reach to Moss Glen and central to Williams Road, about 3 km towards the center of the peninsula, there is a turn off for Waltons Lake Road, which leads to Waltons Lake. Opposite of the lake, there once was a school. This was destroyed by fire before 1935.

William Chetley and his brother, Russell, started school here. They do not recall when the school was built, but they do remember that it had been there before they became pupils. William Chetley was in Grade 1 in about 1910, the year in which both brothers began their schooling.

There were five double desks, on either side of the room, which would accommodate 20 children. The seats usually were filled. There was a wood stove in the center of the room, and along the sides of the stove were shelves on which mittens and lunches could be kept. The school was closed in 1925, when some children were transported to Long Reach and other to Moss Glen school house. In 1949 the children were bussed to MacDonald Consolidated at Kingston.
