The Premier

The screw propelled Premier was built in Clifton, Kings County in 1907. She was 84 feet long with a capacity of 35 tons. She was built by Harry Gilbert and originally used as a ferry boat, between Reed's Point and Rothesay, on the Kennebecasis. Sporting the steeple compound engine of the Hampstead, she devoted herself to the Grand Lake route. There she developed a modestly profitable freight business between Saint John and Chipman. She went out of service in 1933.
